Your surgeon will send us the information we need to schedule your visit with MSSC. Once scheduled it will be important for you to follow these guidelines prior to surgery to prevent delays or cancellations.
Pre-operative Physical:
Prior to your visit you will complete a comprehensive History & Physical examination with a primary care physician. MSSC staff will assist you with coordinating that appointment.
Food and Drink: Unless otherwise directed nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night prior to surgery. This includes water, candy, gum and mints.
Clothing: Wear loose, casual, comfortable clothing.
Makeup, Nail Polish & Jewelry: Please remove all these items before surgery.
What you need the day of surgery – before you arrive:
Driver: You must plan to have someone over the age of 18 to drive you home.
Legal Guardian / Power of Attorney: Designated Legal Guardians and Power of Attorneys must remain in the center AT ALL TIMES for children and dependent adults.
Notify MSSC if: You have an elevated temperature, cough, cold, vomiting or diarrhea between your last visit to the surgeon and the day of your surgery.
Check-in:
When you arrive at our center, we ask that you check-in at the registration desk to verify escort, insurance, and personal information.
Following Admission:
After checking in at our center, you will be brought to our pre-operative area where your nurse will do a health interview and prepare you for surgery.
Anesthesia staff will then discuss your anesthesia with you and answer any questions. At the appropriate time you will be escorted to the operating room. During surgery your escort will stay in a waiting area and will rejoin you in the recovery area after your surgery.
